Callaghan Innovation’s Auckland-based staff to co-locate for the first time
All of Callaghan Innovation’s Auckland-based staff will co-locate to the Textile Centre building in Parnell by the end of 2019, with an official opening of the ‘Callaghan Innovation ki Tāmaki Makaurau’ office taking place in early 2020.
Currently, the agency’s scientists and engineers are based in the Brooke House building on Balfour Road in Parnell, and its business advisors, programmes managers and support staff are in the ANZ building on Princes Wharf (Quay Street).
“With our leases expiring at Quay Street and Balfour Road this year, we took the opportunity to review our Auckland offices and operations,” says Vic Crone, Callaghan Innovation’s Chief Executive.
“We decided that a single site for our offices and labs was the best option. It will enable us to offer access to all our services and support in one place, provide an enhanced end-to-end experience to our customers and collaborators, and better meet the growing demand for our services.”
Longer term, this integrated model may be applied to Callaghan Innovation’s Lower Hutt site to support the vision for Gracefield Innovation Quarter (GIQ) to become a national hub that connects science and business, and supports companies to develop, prove and commercialise the next generation of products and services.
New contact details
Callaghan Innovation’s new physical address in Tāmaki Makaurau will be: Textile Centre, Ground floor, 1 Watt Street, Parnell, Auckland 1052.
Its mailing address will remain the same: PO Box 2225, Shortland Street, Auckland.
Timings for Quay Street staff and activities
All current Quay Street staff and activities will be based at the Textile Centre from Tuesday 30 July 2019. The Quay Street office will be permanently closed from Monday 22 July.
Quay Street staff will work from several locations during 22 to 30 July, while the office move is underway. Please contact staff directly to confirm a meeting location during this time.
Timings for Balfour Road lab-based staff and activities
Callaghan Innovation’s Auckland-based scientists and engineers, whose specialities span data science, computer vision, sensing, robotics, electronics and food technologies, will move at the same time as their Quay Street colleagues.
The agency will retain the labs at Balfour Road though and continue with existing projects uninterrupted while the new Textile Centre labs are built and fitted out.
“Together in our new Parnell premises we can place our customers at the heart of what we do, collaborate better and showcase New Zealand innovation as never before,” says Crone. “We look forward to welcoming visitors to our new space and celebrating the official opening in early 2020.”
