Capability and knowledge transfer for Data Vision
With a career spanning four decades in government science, I've worked my way through various institutions including DSIR Head Office, Applied Maths Division at Victoria University of Wellington, and IRL before finding my current home at Callaghan Innovation's Data Vision team, in Applied Technologies.
One of the aspects of my role is being part of a team tackling challenges that align with my unique skill set, founded on statistics and applied mathematics. Among my significant career highlights is my early contribution to quantifying climate extremes in a team alongside DSc Kit Withers.
Over the years, my area of focus within science and innovation has evolved, but the constant is my commitment to scanning for new technologies and encouraging local businesses to uptake those capabilities. A big part of our team’s role is capability and knowledge transfer. We paint a picture of the possibilities, finding ways people can use the data that they already have and highlighting how that can then become an innovation, adding to what they’re already doing.
